Great Outkast Videos On Youtube

Intro

This hub is a collection of music videos that are truly special. These are some of my favorites from a variety of different genres of music. Enjoy.

Bombs Over Baghdad

A great song by the great group Outkast, they really are one of the few groups that you can constantly count on to hit you with creativity every time they release music. This song has a variety of different influences ranging from classic soul and gospel to electro and classic rock. The video also wastes time getting interesting and takes concept from a regular old rap video and makes it extremely entertaining. For example the coloration that is used reminds me of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory. The random snapshots of the monkey are hilarious. The gospel choir singing in the background is a great touch. Then you have the fact that you have Andre 3000 running around in an outfit that only he could pull off, you combine this with the butts shaking like a Sir Mix a Lot video and you have yourself and interesting music video.

Hey Yah

Not only is the song Hey Yah by Outkasts Andre 3000 amazing but the video that they shot is really something special. An ode to the Beatles and their first televised broadcasting that brought them into the homes of nearly every home in America. You see Andre 3000 playing every instrument to a concert packed with adoring fans. Andre “Ice Cold” 3000 truly is the man for this record, it sounds like nothing that has ever really created and is an undeniable smash record. I think my favorite line in the video is at the beginning when Andre’s partner Big Boi plays Andre’s manager and comes into the dressing room hands Andre stack of money and says “you better get out their and get a little bit of sense, you might get a little bit of this *%#@ money, this is hope money.. greyhound don’t float on water baby”. You can just tell that Andre’s character is getting played like so many great artists have been taken advantage of.

Git Up Get Out

I added this video not because the video is all that special it is pretty basic but because I though it was interesting seeing Cee-Lo, Andre 3000 and Big Boi at such a young age. This came out in 1994 , 17 years ago to this day and a lot has changed since. Imagine showing Andre at this point in his life a video of himself performing “Hey Yah” and saying this is you in 15 years. I wonder what his reaction would be.

Rose's

Such a great video here, Outkast loves to do the throwback in their videos, this is another throwback to the 60’s. This video shows Outkast going down memory lane using their high school yearbook as a guide to tell you the story. I think its dope how they use their album names as the name as the band and crew. Andre’s band is called “The Love Below” which was the name of his album and Big Boi’s crew is called the “SpeakerBox’s also the name of his album. This video has all your high school stereotypes rolled into one and is a pretty entertaining video.

Ms. Jackson

Arguably the greatest Outkast song of all time I remember being in the seventh grade and having this video come on the television. Unfortunately at that point I had no idea how great this song really is. The video shows Andre and Big Boi trying to fix up an old house in what I would presume is the Savannah Georgia area. As they are trying to fix the house a rainstorm comes in and the house starts to flood. The whole video is metaphor to the message in the song, which is trying to fix a relationship that is failing. The water keeps flooding and they aren’t able to stop it just like they are unable to fix the mistakes that they made in the relationship. I love the interpolation of the wedding theme that is played when you walk down the aisle at a wedding.

Rosa Parks

So sad that Outkast ended up getting sued by Rosa Parks for writing this song. Such a joke that she would sue for the writing an ode to what she did. It’s cool how Andre and Big Boi complement each other so well with their different idea. Andre always want to go way crazy and take the record to left field while Big Boi has more grounded ideas. When you combine the two it’s a great combination.

Conclusion

There are plenty more great videos by Outkast out there just start looking. You can find more some all of over youtube music or you can check out the website hot youtube music. I have found a lot of great music their and they have a large collection of Outkasts work. If you are not a fan of their music it is never too late. This is some of the best hip hop music ever created.

My favorite Outkast song would have to be Bombs Over Baghdad. I don't know why, but I find Outkast's older/original work so much better than the newest. Voted up and awesome.
